2011 Term 2 Newsletter

Welcome everyone, this year is flying.
Over the last term there have been some awesome new students showing great promise and enthusiasm.
The second term will require some hard work with your karate. It is important we are continuously improving.
This cold weather is arriving now and the bugs that go with it. There will also be a new flu going around (probable with a new name). So if you are feeling sick then stay at home until you are better. And while you are training with us, please make sure you have good hygiene.

Karate suits (Gi's):
Please let me know if you have any old gi's at home we can pass them onto our new students. I can also order new gi's.

Grading's:
This term most of the students will be sitting there grading's.
Gradings will test your knowledge, skill, fitness and karate spirit.
Sometimes you will fly through some grading's, and sometimes you will struggle, That's how it is in life.

Karate etiquette:
Make sure you are clean and tidy; bring your good manners and do your best, bad attitude will not be tolerated.

Fees:
I will soon be handing out term 2 fees; this will include grading fees.
Prompt payment would be appreciated. We do have Internet banking.
Our family discounts are 50% per extra member. The minimum charge per term is based on 1 nights training per week, any less and it is probable not worth training, so let me know if you are going away during the term and I can adjust fees.

Term 2 Events:
Waikato champs 3rd July-Hamilton
NZ Nationals 16-17th July-Wellington
Sugihara Cup 23rd July-Auckland
Sensei Robbie Smith will also make a visit this term. Date to be confirmed.

Squad training's:
This term there will be more regular Squad training's to prepare for the tournaments.
Trainings will be held most Friday evenings (6.00-8.00PM). The cost for these is $5.
Other clubs also attend these squad training's.
Training is free-sparring/drills (Kumite)
Let me know if you are keen, it is physical and there will be bumps and bruises.

Car parking:
I know is can get busy, so I will try and finish the lesson's on time so there is a 10 minute gap between classes. If you do use our driveway to do a drop off, please make sure you don't block my neighbour.

House progress:
The house progress is moving along; my next project is putting in new steps.
If you have any suggestion for things let me know.

Karate website:
Don't forget our website for news and information.
www.karatekids.co.nz

Train hard, do your best and no excuses; remember there are "no secrets but just hard training".

Gregor McLachlan
